The Sountrack for Love Lost and Love Found
It occurs to me that going through a software search and select is a bit like falling in love again after a bad break up.
You’ve gotten used to your comfortable old software. It might not be the most attractive, or the easiest to get on with, but it’s like wearing a comfy pair of slippers. You know what you’re getting and sometimes it is easier to just stick with what you’ve got.
But eventually you feel like you have outgrown your software. The pain of sticking with it is worse than the pain of moving on. The relationship is all one way. You’re putting in more than you are getting back. It’s just turned into a drain on your resources, your time and your money. You start to lose your patience with it. You’re fighting with it all the time, just to try and get something meaningful back from it. It’s not trying hard enough and it’s become more effort than it is worth.
Enough is enough. You need to say goodbye and move on.
Being back on the market again, for some new software, can be a bit daunting at first. But quickly you realise that the market place has changed a lot since you last looked. Some of this new cloud based software is pretty cool. It’s very user friendly, really easy to configure and customise. And it looks amazing! The price is pretty attractive too. You never knew software like this existed!
You enter into a new relationship with a new provider and your life starts to improve. You are saving time and money and your business processes are much slicker. You are finally turning into the business you always meant to be and it feels amazing!
