Background

The Oil & Gas Technology Centre was established in October 2016 with £180 million funding from both UK and Scottish governments.  The organisation aims to be the go-to technology centre for the global oil and gas industry, with a focus on maximising economic recovery from the UK continental shelf, anchoring the supply chain in the North-East of Scotland, and creating a culture of innovation in the region.

We provide an industry-led, focused and flexible approach to deliver, accelerate, stimulate and inspire innovation between industry, academia and government.  This is delivered through our Centres of Innovation (R&D), Solution Centres (industry challenges), TechX programme (new start-ups and SMEs) and Innovation Hub (learning and collaboration).

Problem

Our previous system had limited functionality and flexibility; while it met the requirements during the initial startup, the system did not have the ability to record all the information on our activities.

The OGTC required a flexible system, with the ability to cope with multiple factors, including the recording of value in kind services provided by developers and industry as part of the activities of the business.

Solution

The decision on which software provider was based on a range of factors, critically flexibility of the system to cope with OGTC activities along with cost, ease of use, the support available post go live and the implementation team. A large number of System providers were invited to demo solutions and provide context on how they could accommodate our activities.

Netsuite was the only solution that could demonstrate the ability to comply with all these factors. It provided a reliable, efficient and flexible easy to use solution to meet our needs and requirements, all at a low cost, providing excellent value for money.

Results

The system has provided an efficient way for the OGTC to deliver on reporting across all stakeholders and members. Additionally, the system is a high-quality solution delivered at a low cost.

The support provided by Cofficient has been excellent, the team are always available to provide help and advice on any issue or new requirement that the business may have, with resolutions provided in a timely manner. In addition, the team have a large amount of knowledge, both in regards with financial requirements as well as the system.
