Cofficient @ The Scottish Accountancy Awards 2015
Last night the team at Cofficient attended the Scottish Accountancy Awards as proud sponsors. Our links to the Scottish Accountancy community run deeper than my own history as FD for various Scottish corporations. As trusted partners to their clients, accountants are often called upon to advise on such things as cloud software or ERP. We were delighted to have some of our close referral partners attend the event with us.
The most forward thinking accountancy practices are well ahead of the curve, recognising that cloud offers a new way of working. It’s been gaining momentum in the community for a number of years and I really believe we are about to reach the tipping point. The accountants I talk to realise that it’s worth making the switch to SaaS to get the benefits of things such as anytime access from anywhere with internet connection, lower upfront costs, one version of the truth – real time. Of course without software to install or hardware to upgrade, it means the speed of implementation gets you all these benefits really quickly. In fact, winners of the Small Accountancy Firm of the Year – Mint – credited cloud finance software provider Xero with much of their success. Cloud software runs through the heart of their offering, and they are reaping the benefits.
Speaking of winners, it was lovely to see some of Scotland’s emerging big businesses Brewdog and Skyscanner winning awards for Young Accountant and Emerging Finance Director. It stands to reason that such companies have built their success on cloud. Of course I offer my congratulations to all the winners of the night and was especially delighted to see our table companion Iain Main of Stark, Main & Co pick up Accountant of the Year – an award which, in his usual spirit of humility, he dedicated to his team.
The real winner of the evening however, was our guest, Tony Quinn from Silvercloud, who won the sweepstake by correctly guessing the outcome of all the awards.
See you all next year.
