Cofficient Client – Simon Community – Up For Prestigious Digital Award for Their Use of NetSuite

Simon Community (Scotland) Shortlisted for Herald Digital Award

Cofficient are delighted to announce that client, Simon Community (Scotland), has been shortlisted for the Charity and Social Enterprise Award at this year’s prestigious Herald Digital Awards.

The award aims to recognise charities who are using digital technologies for a force of good across Scotland; identifying those charities and social enterprises where innovation in the digital space has resulted in real and meaningful engagement for those they aim to serve.   The award can be given for work across social media, websites, digital marketing campaigns and mobile technology.

Simon Community (Scotland) first implemented NetSuite in 2015 after acknowledging they needed a cloud based system to help with reporting and analysis.  Using NetSuite as a central data repository, they are now capturing mission-critical information about service users and forming strategy on the back of the business intelligence.

NetSuite is helping Simon Community (Scotland) in four key ways:

  • Service Improvement – Staff are able to reach, connect with and help service users in a more compassionate manner

  • Business Intelligence – More information, leading to better targeting of services and training.  Service users’ needs are better met

  • Business Efficiency – Time and cost savings are redirected straight into the service

  • Innovation – Using the technology to add value to the existing offer, and identifying the potential to do more

Operations Director, Hugh Hill, says of NetSuite, “Our objective was simply to implement a management information system which would bring real and tangible benefit to the people who are at risk of or experience homelessness.    We are saving so much time in terms of data entry and manual input that our key members of staff are now able to devote their time to really meaningful activities – things which really benefit our service users.    The main challenge was designing a system which was easy for our volunteers to use.  We recruit for compassion, not for IT skills.  But Cofficient have built us an extremely user friendly system and helped us to innovate beyond the core system.”

Speaking about the award nomination Hill says, “We are delighted to be nominated.  Simon Community (Scotland) have been working hard to innovate and modernise and it’s nice to have the recognition.  In turn I would like to recognise Cofficient.  Without them we wouldn’t have been introduced to NetSuite, and we wouldn’t have had such success with the system.  They have helped us to customise it to perfectly fit our needs both in terms of simplicity and in terms of quality of output”.

Simon Community (Scotland) have just announced an initiative for bike outreach programme.  Volunteers cycle to rough sleeping sites outside the city centre, using garmins to capture data.  Syncing NetSuite with Google Maps, Simon Community hope to be able to better map common rough sleeping sites and access homeless service users who are outside of the city centre limits.
