Run A Better Business – SAP ByD
I recently attended an SAP Business By Design (ByD) training day in Reading. It’s easy to forget, when you are selling and implementing the software every day, just how well established the provenance of SAP is, and not without reason. The ByD software in particular is so very clever and robust. Powered by SAP HANA it is one of the most versatile solutions available on the market today.
Not one to keep things to myself, I thought I would share my key take aways from the day which, other than 2 boxes of Minstrels and a bag of Haribo Tangfastic were:
1 – SAP ByD will have a minimum 5 years further development spent on it. This is a decision which has been taken at SAP board level in order to capitalise on the growth of the product (135% year on year growth).
2 – SAP ByD helps you to empower and engage your workforce. It is very easy to customise the software in a way which closely resembles the users expectations. It’s pretty intuitive and easy for people to learn and use. In fact, it drives a noticeable reduction in the daily workload – which is important for users to adopt and accept any new solution. A personal favourite feature of mine is the SAP Mashup (used to integrate web services or apps into ByD). Something as simple as pulling your customer’s latest tweets into their customer record gives you brilliant insight into what is important to them and what they are talking about now so that you don’t skip a beat!
3- Cloud really is a game changer. Who wouldn’t want:
- Low up front costs
- Predictability in costs
- Better agility
- Faster time to value
- More user friendly applications powering the business
- Better and faster innovation
Why wouldn’t you want to unwire your business?
Speaking of wireless, I hope you find the time to look at the wee video embedded above. It outlines how Devialet (design and manufacture quality, wireless sound systems) decided to invest in SAP ByD after 5 years. Their driving reason? Because they valued their “future” business, their potential and their growth as much as their current business.
