NetSuite’s New HR Module – SuitePeople – To Be Launched This Year

SuitePeople to be Launched In UK Later This Year

NetSuite is a very complete solution.  As far as integrated products go, it’s one of the best.  The system seamlessly flows from front end to back end – from sales order to invoice and purchase order to receipt.  Everything in between is catered for, manufacturing, project management, supply chain; you name it, NetSuite’s got it.

But there has, until now, been a glaring gap in NetSuite functionality – HR and people management.  Most businesses looking for ERP have some sort of requirement for managing employee records.  NetSuite has had basic functionality up until now; employee contact information, skills, rate of pay and so on.

One of the major new updates announced, at this year’s SuiteWorld back in April, is the release of SuitePeople; their comprehensive HR and people management module.

Here’s How SuitePeople improves NetSuite functionality

Core HR Improvements

Until now core NetSuite HR has included basic information about employees such as contact details, next of kin, pay grades etc.

Core HR capabilities have been extended now to include things like Time Off Management (hither to achievable through calendar management); Health and Safety Management; Job and Position Management, HR Dashboards; Compliance Management and reporting and useful workflows for things such as employee terminations and time-off approvals.

The core HR module now comes with over 50 out-the-box HR reports and an HR dashboard.

Improved Self Service

Employees have always been able to access their self service employee centre.  Typically used for logging time and expenses, but this feature is to be improved.

An employee self service dashboard will allow staff to review their holiday allocation, sickness absence and can even link to a “kudos” feature which collates public recognition for achievements.

Improved HR Analytics

Aimed at helping HR Directors with data preparation, this feature enables easy tracking of headcount, growth and turnover trends.  Segmented by location, subsidiary, department or employee classification, these new features can be filtered easily in graphical form to prevent manually “hand cranking” trends for board reports.   As with all other NetSuite features and functions, drilling into information is as simple as clicking on a link.

Gaps in the New SuitePeople Module

Payroll

This has been a much missed module from the HR solution over the years.  I’ve yet to see a complete request for information which hasn’t stipulated payroll capability as a desired feature.  NetSuite has always struggled with the complexities of payroll compliance across various geographies.  While the literature boasts full integration into NetSuite Core HR and Accounting Modules, this functionality is, sadly, only being released in US to begin with.

SuitePeople is set to be launched in the UK later in 2017
